Club and Bar Closed

Dear Members,

In light of the Government’s announcement this morning and their recommendations in order to curb the spread of Covid 19, The Committee have taken the decision to close the Club and Bar with immediate effect until 29th March.

This decision has been made taking into account the many groups and ages using the Club, and also with our vulnerable members in mind, to whom we have a duty of care.

The closure will be reviewed after this period of time.

Look after each other and follow the health guidelines.

Junior Sailing Course Induction Evenings

Junior Sailing Course Induction Evenings

This year we are holding two induction evenings in the club the first ‪on Sunday 16th June‬ & the second ‪on Sunday 14th July‬ both ‪at 6pm‬ for all those enrolled on junior courses this Summer.

Please feel free to attend either evening, however if your sailor is enrolled on our later courses ‪from 15th July‬ onwards, it might suit you better to attend ‪the 14th July evening‬.

It very important that you and your sailor attend one of these induction evenings before their course commences. We will outline what kit you will need to have for the course, what is involved in the courses, some safety guidelines and particularly what to expect if it is your first time involved.

These evenings are a great opportunity to meet the team, other parents & trainees and to have a chat over a drink as the bar will be open too.

Junior Training 2019 Started

We still have a few spaces left on our Cara Na Mara Otters & Seals courses and our level 4 Advanced Boat Handling & Teen Try Sailing courses. Check out our Courses/Training Section for more information.

We have 2 spaces left on our Introduction to Power Boat course running 20th & 21st April for over 16 yo & adults.

This course will run over two days ‪from 10am – 5pm‬. Please go to the Irish Sailing website for information on what the course covers.

Please feel free to contact Karen you would like to enrol or have any questions.

Gerry Nolan R.I.P.

It is with great sadness, that we have all learned of Gerry Nolan’s passing. Gerry held 5 officer positions in the club, from Commodore, to his renowned position as House Commodore to his last role of President. Gerry has taught many people to sail and understand sailing over the years and it is with great fondness we remember this true gentleman. Our thoughts and prayers are with Angela and Gerry’s family.

We ask those that can attend the funeral on Tuesday, to wear their WSC Club clothing in honour of Gerry. We would like members to form a guard of honour and walk from Tesco to St Patricks church and meet at Tesco at 9:30am. The entrance to the church will be lined with Current and Past Presidents and Commodores of the club at 9:45am.

His arrangements for the funeral can be found on RIP.ie

May Gerry Rest in Peace.
